Ambassador Program Goals

1) Increase participation in local running/walking events
2) Encourage Sea Rim Striders to volunteer at two or more events during the year

Ambassador Program Details

Enrollment
The Ambassador Program is open to all members of the Sea Rim Striders who register for the program. Registration for the 2013 Ambassador Program (see link at the bottom of this page) is now open. Registration will close on June 30th. Participants must register online through the Sea Rim Striders website.

Accumulating Points
There are four different ways to earn Ambassador points:
   1) Participating in qualified local races and events.
   2) Volunteering in an official Sea Rim Strider capacity.
   3) Attending a Sea Rim Strider Board Meeting.
   4) Carrying out a special SRS project or service.

Each of the four ways to earn points will be explained below.
Participating in Qualified Events
Points are awarded for either running or walking in a qualified event. Ambassador points are only awarded for qualified events. As new events are added to the Sea Rim Strider Event Calendar, the SRS Board will decide which events which will be added to the qualified event list.
Volunteering as a Sea Rim Strider
One of the main goals of the Sea Rim Striders is to promote running and walking in Southeast Texas. Volunteers are a huge factor in hosting successful events. To be notified of upcoming volunteer opportunities, you will need to register as a SRS volunteer. As volunteer opportunities arise, you will receive an email with the details of each position. Simply reply to the email and indicate which volunteer position(s) you are interested in. Different volunteer positions may have different point values.
Each Ambassador is required to volunteer a minimum of two times before the end of the year.
Attending a Sea Rim Strider Board Meeting
The Sea Rim Striders meet monthly to discuss club business and ways that we can promote running and walking in the area. We value input from our membership as we plan for the future of the club. Ambassador points will awarded to those who attend a SRS Board Meeting. Note: Points are awarded only once for attending a Board Meeting... not for each Board Meeting attended.
Special SRS Project or Service
Members who would like to organize a special project or service for the Sea Rim Striders will be awarded Ambassador Points. Any special project or service will need SRS Board approval beforehand.

Points for Events in the Past
Points will be awarded for Qualified Events regardless of when you join the Sea Rim Striders or register for the Ambassador Program. In otherwords, if you participated in the SRS Resolution Run 5K on 01/01/13, but did join the Sea Rim Striders and register for the Ambassador Program until 05/15/13, you will still be awarded points for the event.

Reporting Ambassador Points
It is your responsibility to report Ambassador Points for each event. You will submit your participation for qualifying events through the Sea Rim Strider website. Your name will be verified by race results, so make sure your name is listed correctly on the race results. For volunteers, your name will be verified by the race director and/or our volunteer coordinator, so you MUST coordinate your volunteer efforts with one of them in order to receive credit.

Volunteer Requirement
All Ambassadors must volunteer two or more times during the year. Volunteer opportunities are announced by email to those who register as volunteers.

Ambassador Award
Anyone who earns a minimum of 75 points and volunteers two or more times during 2013 will receive an exclusive full-color SRS race top. Ambassadors will be able to choose from several styles (such as a singlet, sleeveless, short sleeve, or long sleeve design). Orders will be placed after the last race of 2013. The ONLY way that members can receive the SRS race top is to register for the program and earn the points. In addition, it is expected that the SRS race tops will not just occupy space in a closet, but will be worn proudly by Ambassadors as they participate in both local events and events out of our area.

Changes to the Ambassador Program
As the need arises, the SRS Board will meet to clarify or change the program based on the goals of the Ambassador Program.
